A Deteriorating Nation

How can a nation call themselves the United States when it files a lawsuit against on of its states? Arizona is being sued by the Department of Justice for its highly controversial immigration law that passed in April. But now, other countries are being allowed to tell Arizona how to conduct its immigration policies as well. Eleven Latin American countries, including, guess who, Mexico, are joining the fight to overturn the law.  Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru and Chile make up the other ten nations that have joined the Department of Justice.

President Obama, the man who, according to Abraham Lincoln, is supposed to be holding the Union together is one of the biggest supporters of this lawsuit that is creating controversy within the Union. People may be thinking that this is a minor issue that has nothing to do with the unity of the country, but to someone like me, it shows that the most powerful people in this country care more about party lines than they do about the good of the nation.

George Washington, in his Farewell Speech, warned against political parties and getting involved in European affairs because he believed that it would tear the nation apart. It looks like Washington was spot on.
